Computer Facilities

There are several computer labs available in the Graduate Centre. All computers are available for postgraduate use only, for academic purposes. Users must comply with University regulations on computer use and food or drink cannot be consumed in the labs. Printing from labs and carrels can be picked up from the Print Room (Room G22).

 

PC Lab

The PC lab is located in room 154, first floor, east wing of the Graduate Centre. This lab is intended for thesis production and research purposes.

 

Macintosh & PC Lab

The Macintosh and PC lab is located in room 127, first floor, west wing of the Graduate Centre. This lab is intended for thesis production and research purposes.

 

Wireless & Network Access

 

IT Kit

An IT Kit CD has been produced for students who experience difficulties in downloading software due to slow Internet connection, or who have no access to the Internet. It contains a range of software, including PDFCreator, OpenOffice.org and EndNote X, and printable guides.

The IT Kit CD has been jointly produced by School of Graduate Research (SGR), University of Melbourne Postgraduate Association (UMPA) and Information Services. This CD is available for loan from UM branch Libraries (http://cat.lib.unimelb.edu.au/search/t?SEARCH=it+kit), or UMPA members may get their own copy from UMPA.

 

IT Help

There are IT Support staff that can assist you in using the IT facilities at the Graduate Centre. To request IT support in using the facilities in the GPPC, or to report a computer or software fault in the GPPC, go to room 19 of the Graduate Centre, where an IT Support person is available for assistance from 10 am until 5 pm, Monday to Friday. To request IT support in using the facilities in the Mac and PC lab, or PC lab, or to report a computer or software fault in the Mac and PC lab, or PC lab, go to room 126 of the Graduate Centre, where an IT Support person is available for assistance from 9 am until 5 pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively contact the Information Services (IS) IT Service Desk using one of three methods:
